Goals for tomorrow

Goals for tomorrow

Every night I reflect on the day and often make a list of "Goals for tomorrow". We all do this. We lay in bed each night thinking of the things we didn't get finished today and making a "to do" list in our mind.

I no longer make a "to do" list of chores. I've stopped this insanity. It causes insomnia. I lay in bed each night and reflect on my experiences. I make a list of "5 thankfuls" and I think about what I learned from the day.

You see, I believe life is a learning process. We learn from our mistakes and experiences. Most people only take this opportunity with life changing events but it doesn't need to be this way. Each day holds an opportunity for growth. How can we learn and grow if we are mentally stuck day after day?

I like to end each day by reflecting, having gratitude in the little things and setting goals for improvement. Here is my current "To do" list.

Goals for tomorrow:

Have patience with others

Have empathy for others

Be present in conversations and stop thinking about other things while people are talking

Do not lose yourself in other people's problems. Listen but don't be a problem solver

During my reflection time I think back to my goal list. I acknowledge my successes and remove or add items to the list as needed.

I challenge you to try this for just 5 days. Spend time reflecting each night and thinking about how you can be a better person tomorrow. Be grateful for each day and grateful for life's little gifts. I think you will find yourself falling asleep easier and waking up each day feeling refreshed and renewed.

"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
