A lot of people go through life dreading their daily routine. They walk around with their heads down, never looking people in the eye, afraid to talk to strangers or alter their plans in any way. What they don't realize is they are missing out on the joy of living and daily opportunities to laugh and have fun with fellow people.
You know the feeling you have when you are getting ready for a big vacation or a first date? It's the feeling of excitement, anticipation, like anything is possible....
You can have this feeling everyday if you just open yourself up to it. You can enjoy the simplist tasks in life if you go into it with this attitude. Just as an example, today, my mother and I had the dreaded task of waking up at 6:00 a.m. and driving 2 hours into the country and back. We could have moaned and groaned about waking up so early. We could have complained about everything along the way but instead we had an adventurous attitude. On the way back after driving through miles and miles of cotton fields on back country roads we finally came across a gas station. We were tired and hungry but not complaining. We went into the store and they had a small kitchen serving fried chicken. Now at this point you would think the 2 city girls would turn around on their 6 inch stillitoes and carry their prada purse toting arses out the door in dreams of a "decent" restrurant, instead we orded a plate of fried chicken and sat down at the gas station table. We had the TIME OF OUR LiVES not to mention the best fried chicken. We engaged the country locals in conversation and when we left my mom stood up and told the cook 2 thumbs up, better yet, 2 snaps and a booty whack. We had everyone in the place dying of laughter.
Now I ask you, what kind of day are you going to have? I hope you make it an adventurous one. Life is worth living.....
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain
