I have always loved waking up early on Saturday. I enjoy the stillness of the household as everyone sleeps. It's a nice quiet time to be alone with my own thoughts. The first cup of coffee doesn't need to be gulped down. I enjoy sipping my coffee and thinking about all the endless possibilities the day has in store.
My love for Saturday mornings probably goes back to childhood. As a child I never enjoyed sleeping in or taking naps. Every Saturday morning I would wake up before my siblings and find my mom. She was usually sitting up in bed sipping a cup of coffee. (probably enjoying the quiet and appreciative of not running around getting kids dressed and breakfast made). I would get into bed with her and snuggle up close. We didn't need to talk,we just enjoyed the quiet and each other's company.
This tradition was passed down in my own family. I always enjoyed this quiet snuggle time with my children. Now that they are teenagers, who take great pride in sleeping half the day, I miss this. On occasion, one of them will wake up early and we share this special moment together.
On Saturday mornings remember to pause for a moment and be grateful for family and grateful for a day without a hectic schedule.
Today holds a lot of potential, I wonder what wonderful surprises it will bring.
